How Many Kittens Can a Cat Have?

Most mother cats have a litter of three to five kittens, but the amount can vary from one to more than 10 kittens! How many kittens that a cat has can be dependent on where they’re from.

While feral cats, who are often malnourished and under a lot of stress, typically don’t have more than three or four kittens, non-feral cats under veterinary care tend to have larger litters of six to 8 kittens.

Full House

There was one cat in particular, though, that had quite the full house. In 1970, there was a 4-year-old Burmese cat named Tarawood Antigone that gave birth to 19 kittens, and 15 of them survived.
